Meet Our Members: Featuring Rebecca Scanlan

  1. Who is your hero? I don’t have a hero per say. One of the people I admire would be my sister, Heather. She is one of the strongest people I know. Is able to take a bad situation and work through it and come out on the other side better for it

  2. If you could live anywhere, where would it be? If I could live anywhere it would be Hawaii. The beaches there are beautiful, and the weather is nice all the time

  3. What is your favorite family vacation? My favorite family vacation so far is Gatlinburg, TN. There is a lot to do. Hiking in the mountains, and state parks. It is very pretty there

  4. What would you change about yourself if you could? I would change my facial expressions. I do not have a “poker face”

  5. What really makes you angry? Laziness

  6. What motivates you to work hard? My family and a job well done. I like to be able to step back and see that what I did for the day was done to the best of my ability and works how it should

  7. What is your favorite thing about your career? My favorite thing would be the people. You get to meet a lot of people when you work in payroll. Either stopping in for their check or just to ask a quick question

  8. What is your biggest strength that makes you successful? I would say my biggest strength would be that I am able to stop and look at an issue from all sides, break it down and look for the best solution as a whole. Not just what would be the easiest fix

  9. What is your proudest accomplishment? My proudest accomplishment would be my family. I have been married for 26 years in November and have 3 beautiful children

  10. If you could compare your job to a movie, which title seems most appropriate? Caddyshack. I have worked with a lot of interesting people

  11. What would you sing at Karaoke night? I wouldn’t. I can not sing and would never subject people to that

  12. What made you passionate about payroll? I had a great teacher when it came to teaching me everything I needed to know about payroll. She was very passionate about it and it just flowed over

  13. What do you think could change this industry for the better? I think if people had a better understanding about their paychecks would be a big change

  14. Why should people want to pursue payroll as a professional? Payroll is a great area to work in. There is always something changing and you do a lot of the same things on a daily basis but there is also always something different to do also. There is always something that comes up that makes you trouble shoot and put thought into it

  15. What is the most fulfilling part of your membership in FVPA? The members you get to meet and know. The classes that are put on to continue

your education and to also earn RCH credits
