Job Description

*Relocation to North Chicago available (hybrid role, 3 days a week in office)

 

The Payroll Tax Lead is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll tax payments, reporting, and overall payroll tax compliance across the organization. The lead oversees US and Puerto Rico payroll tax operations, stay abreast on tax regulations, and implements adjustments to maintain compliance standards. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, an in-depth understanding of payroll tax legislation, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve payroll tax procedures. This role will also support activities necessary to complete the processing of the payroll for US and Puerto Rico, including inspecting/auditing tax registers, tax filing and reporting for accuracy and yearly tax statements.

 

Responsibilities

•Knowledge expertise of US and Puerto Rico regulations around employee payroll.

•Monitor and understand US federal, state, and local tax laws to ensure compliance.

•Stay up to date with regulatory changes and updates systems and processes accordingly.

•Perform regular audits to identify and resolve compliance issues, avoid delays in filings to monitor penalties/ notices.

•Work in partnership with the Payroll Team to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll tax liabilities.

•Reconcile state withholding taxes and state unemployment taxes monthly, quarterly, and annually.

•Ensure payroll tax deposits are remitted timely and accurately.

•Partnering with internal stakeholders and ADP to apply for identification numbers, such as FEIN, and SUI, when entering new jurisdictions.

•Monitor required tax filings accurately and within deadlines along with payroll tax amendments and corrections for state and federal returns.

•Lead and drive RSU Vesting and Year-End Payroll processing activities.

•Troubleshoot system issues related to payroll tax calculations.

•Evaluate and improve payroll tax processes with higher efficiency and accuracy.

•Identify opportunities for automation and lead implementation efforts from payroll taxes.

•Some travel may be required.

 

Qualifications

•Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Finance / Accounting / Tax.

•Very Proficient in Excel, Word, and related functions and high level of attention to detail

•A minimum of 5 years of US and Puerto Rico payroll tax experience. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent preferred.

•Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals, fostering a high-performing culture while supporting a continuous improvement mindset.

•Working knowledge of Workday Payroll and Tax experience integrating with 3rd party applications.

•Strong customer orientation and a work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations.

•Strong written and oral communication skills, in English and Spanish

•Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, as well as to get results through collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.

•Good analytical and process diagnostic skills and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture. Strong spreadsheet and database skills. Continuous improvement orientation.

•The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future

Payroll Specialist Job Opening

Hennig, Inc., a leading manufacturer of Machine Tool Protection, has an immediate opening for a Payroll Specialist.

​

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to manage and execute our payroll processes. A strong background in payroll administration is a must.

​

Key Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:

· Process and manage bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time. This includes reviewing timecards and other payroll information, processing corrections, setting up and maintaining proper earnings, deduction, and withholding files, and entering data into the payroll system.

· Interact with supervisors as required to verify information and resolve discrepancies.

· Process wage garnishments, child support orders, etc.

· Ensure compliance with tax regulations and company policies.

· Respond to inquiries from employees regarding their payroll checks, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns.

· Collaborate with HR to maintain employee records.

· Maintain records of Payroll deductions, Vacation Time, PTO, along with other spreadsheets and documents related to payroll.

· Track PTO, Vacation, Bereavement, Jury Duty, etc.

· Perform verifications of employment.· Assist HR with other various tasks as needed.Qualifications:

· Proven payroll processing experience.

· Must be organized and pay great attention to detail.

· Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality.· Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.

· Prior experience with Paylocity and Global Shop is a plus.

· Understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
