Sr. Payroll Specialist

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist Payroll Coordinators with weekly payroll processing:

    • Ensure that all documentation necessary is received and complete in order to process payroll.

    • Manage the Ultipro Time and Attendance (UTA) import process.

    • Review reports for consistency utilizing the established controls.

    • Monitor the completion of specific tasks within the payroll process.

    • Prepare payroll reports and supporting documentation for general ledger transactions and bank reconciliation process.

    • Provide support to the coordinators in the event of an absence due to illness, vacations by reassigning tasks or hands on support.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, payroll tax obligations and internal policies.

  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting Services.

  • Assist the Payroll Manager in developing sound and consistent procedures, including establishing controls to improve systems.

  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

  • Prepare periodic payroll-related analysis, statements, and projections as needed.

  • Responsible for researching and resolving payroll discrepancies and issues in a thorough and timely manner.

  • Assists employees with payroll related questions and information requests.

  • Perform other related duties directly and indirectly related to payroll as assigned or requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field required; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM) is a plus

  • Proficient with payroll software/HRIS (Ultipro strongly preferred) and MS Office (especially Excel)

  • At least 5+ years of experience supporting and processing detailed payroll from start to finish

  • Excellent customer service, verbal, written and communication skills

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations as they pertain to payroll processing

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
